Case Number Search
The Case Number Search allows you to look up Missouri court cases by entering an exact case number. This search provides detailed information about a specific case, including all related proceedings.
How to Search:
- Select the Court: You can perform your search across all participating courts, which includes all trial circuit courts and appellate courts. Alternatively, you can narrow your search to a specific circuit or appellate court to streamline the results.
- Enter the Case Number: Type the complete case number in the search field provided.
- Start the Search: Click the “Find” button to retrieve the case information.
Please Note:
- Precision Required: This search method requires the full case number and does not support partial numbers or wildcard characters (e.g., using an asterisk).
- Master and Subsequent Cases: Some cases are primary (master) cases, with related cases (sub-cases) that follow. These sub-cases are indicated by suffixes like -01, -02, etc. Entering the master case ID displays both the master and any sub-cases.
- Viewing Results: Click on the case number hyperlink to access detailed information for each case. To get the latest updates, select the highest sub-case number.
Search Results and Privacy:
- Protection Order Cases: As per Court Operating Rule 2 effective from January 1, 2012, searching by case number can retrieve protection order cases both before and after a judgment is made. However, names or other identifying details of petitioners or plaintiffs are not displayed in protection order cases, and cases that have been dismissed will not appear in search results.
- Paternity Cases: Details for paternity cases are only available if a judgment has been entered.
Using the Case Number Search effectively: This search tool is designed to provide precise information quickly and accurately, without the clutter of unrelated cases. It is particularly useful for legal professionals, researchers, or individuals tracking specific legal actions within the Missouri state courts.
